When the pandemic brought international travel to a screeching halt, global adventurers and travel seekers had to adjust pretty drastically. While jet-setting off to luxurious islands an ocean away was off the table, many globally minded travelers came to realize that road trips within the U.S. offered a different but equally satisfying escape. Getting out on the open road and exploring the cities across our country, whether a historic town, bustling metropolis, or something in between, satiated our sense of wanderlust. Instead of choosing our favorite cities around the globe for Legend Awards, this year, we’ve honed in on our favorite road trip destinations in the U.S.

“From the outside, downtown Park City looks like the kind of place where you’d fuel up in the middle of your road trip to Colorado—but anyone who’s stopped there for more than just a tank of gas knows better. There’s a ski lift right on the street, smack in the middle of bustling downtown. Despite the perpetually casual dress code of Western American towns, there’s high-end shopping on every corner. And from pretty much anywhere you stand, you can catch a glimpse of the extraordinarily vast mountains that surround the area.
